Sally was my first tutor when I started the apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework 30 years ago this year. I was 18 and anxious as I was living away from home fending for myself and I didn’t know what the course would entail and it all seemed quite scary and then in walked Sally. She was quiet and calm and managed to control the larger than normal class of apprentices without even raising her voice - we all loved her instantly. With her wealth of knowledge she taught us the stitches and techniques we needed to know with the occasional “I think if you unpick it and try again it will look neater” – always gentle and always right! A wonderful lady who will be sadly missed.
